Learn the essential principles of Pilates - concentration, centering, breathing, isolation, routine, precision, control and flowing movement. It is the place to start and can be the level to stay at if you have any underlying medical/orthopaedic problems. Spinal pain and other orthopaedic conditions can often be effectively managed through exercising at this level. Each exercise can be modified as required to an easier or more difficult version to allow for individual variation, injury, etc... Uses small equipment to assist/resist movement and provide variety to the classes.
Progression to Intermediate level is appropriate after a Beginners course when the basic principles have been learned and the particpant can maintain and control a neutral lower spine in the double table top position. This level of class will provide a bigger challenge to the abdominal and pelvic muscles. Small equipment is used to provide resistance to movement or facilitate more challenging exercises.
A specific exercise class for those diagnosed with osteoporosis, osteopenia or for those at risk of developing bone disease. It focuses on weight bearing exercise, maintenance of posture, balance and endurance.
Classes for pregnancy and the early post-natal period specifically designed to allow women to exercise safely. Antenatal classes are suitable for 2nd/3rd trimesters. Post-natal Pilates is suitable for those 6 weeks after normal delivery or 12 weeks after caesarean section. Eases new mums back into exercise in a gentle and appropriate way. Babys are welcome too!
