We run a wide range of Mat Pilates, Barre & Specialised classes at Holywood Pilates.

Lower Impact HIIT Class

We are launching our new lower impact HIIT class!

Some of you will remember a similar class that used to run in our old studio in Priory Park. This class is ideal for those who want to improve their fitness and is a great way to aid weight loss, at the same time keeping the impact to joints low and focusing on good form and technique so as to avoid stress/injury to the body.

Please note this class will not be suitable for anyone with an acute pain problem or who has any significant cardio-respiratory issues. 
There will be 7 live sessions via Zoom - the first will be during Easter week - Wednesday 7th April at 10.30am & will be a live fitness test (don't worry if you can't make it we can provide you with the recording & email you a fitness test form to fill out & do at a time that suits you.) 
There will then be 5 weeks of classes running live via Zoom on a Monday at 10.15am. A recording of the class will be emailed out to all participants and you will be encouraged to try to repeat the class a few times during the remainder of the week.
Week 7 will then be a repeat fitness test! 

The cost of the HIIT course will be £42.

Beginners/Improvers

Learn the essential principles of Pilates - concentration, centering, breathing, isolation, routine, precision, control and flowing movement. It is the place to start and can be the level to stay at if you have any underlying medical/orthopaedic problems. Spinal pain and other orthopaedic conditions can often be effectively managed through exercising at this level. Each exercise can be modified as required to an easier or more difficult version to allow for individual variation, injury, etc... Uses small equipment to assist/resist movement and provide variety to the classes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Intermediate

Progression to Intermediate level is appropriate after a Beginners course when the basic principles have been learned and the particpant can maintain and control a neutral lower spine in the double table top position. This level of class will provide a bigger challenge to the abdominal and pelvic muscles. Small equipment is used to provide resistance to movement or facilitate more challenging exercises.

Advanced 

The Advanced class works towards higher level strength and conditioning, it is fast paced,

challenging & fun! 
It is not suitable for anyone in the early stages of injury recovery or experiencing acute back pain.
Previous Pilates experience is essential before progressing to this class.

Barre

A total body workout conducted mostly in standing focusing on posture, balance, core control, strength and cardio fitness.

Healthy Bones

A specific exercise class for those diagnosed with osteoporosis, osteopenia or for those at risk of developing bone disease. It focuses on weight bearing exercise, maintenance of posture, balance and endurance.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Golf Pilates 

The class aims to address the muscle imbalances commonly seen in thus sport. This class focuses on Upper back / Shoulder / Hip Flexibility / Balance as well as oblique abdominal strength. 

Express Pilates 

Lasting only 30 minutes this class is a great way to fit Pilates into your busy schedule & get a bit of me time away from the workplace. 

Ante/Post-natal

Classes for pregnancy and the early post-natal period specifically designed to allow women to exercise safely. Antenatal classes are suitable for 2nd/3rd trimesters. Post-natal Pilates is suitable for those 6 weeks after normal delivery or 12 weeks after caesarean section. Eases new mums back into exercise in a gentle and appropriate way. Babys are welcome too! Currently these classes are not running, to register your interest please email us. 

 

Relax Kids 

Teaches kids basic relaxation & stress reducing techniques & help manage feelings & emotions. The class is for 5-9 year olds. The class is currently not running to register your interest please email us.
