Dr Lorraine Maxwell

Lorraine qualified as a physiotherapist in 1998 and obtained her PhD studying paediatric orthopaedics in 2004. Over the last 20 years she has worked in a wide range of paediatric and adult musculo-skeletal areas both in Belfast and in London.

Lorraine is a fully certified Pilates instructor with the APPI and has been teaching classes in Holywood since 2010. She has undertaken multiple Pilates training courses including Small equipment, Reformer for the mat, 3D Pilates in Standing, Ante and Postnatal Pilates, Advanced Pilates, Osteoporosis Pilates and Strength and Conditioning Pilates. Lorraine has completed her APPI Healthy HIIT certification enabling her to teach high intensity courses, and has also completed her paediatric Pilates courses with the BodyControl Institute.

Most recently she has completed Total Barre training and is enjoying teaching this full body workout.

Hannah Macleod

Hannah qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2002. She also holds a MSc in Pain Science and Practice.

Hannah started Pilates as a way to solve her own running related injuries after completing her first marathon. She is a fully certified Pilates instructor with the APPI and is also a qualified personal trainor (Level 3 REPs). She has completed a wealth of training courses including Pilates in Standing, Pilates and the theraband, Suspension and Kettle bell training.

Caroline Clarke

Following a BSc in Sport and Exercise Sciences, Caroline Clarke has been a Chartered Physiotherapist for 12 years qualifying from University of Ulster in 2004 with a MSc (pre-registration). Following completion of rotations working in NHS hospitals, Caroline has worked as a Specialist Physiotherapist in Rheumatology and has also attained post-graduate qualification in Acupuncture.  She has a keen interest in developing manual therapy skills and as well as post-graduate training courses, Caroline is currently undertaking her MSc Manual Therapy to take these skills and expertise to an advanced level.
Caroline has also undertaken her Pilates training with APPI who specialise in training Chartered Physiotherapists in Modified Pilates based on the 34 traditional exercises originally devised by Joseph Pilates.  Caroline is a member of the CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapists), HPC (Health Professions Council), and AACP (Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists). 

Erin Cooper

Erin qualified as a chartered physiotherapist in 2008 and over the last 10 years has gained valuable experience in both the private and public sectors including working in Australia.

She is currently a specialist physiotherapist in the area of pelvic and obstetrics helping clients with issues relating to continence and pain.

Erin began pilates as a way to improve her core strength and flexibility and through this has completed course in APPI and DMA clinical Pilates.

She has a special interest in women’s health and regaining control and confidence in our bodies during and after pregnancy.

Helena Allen

Helena qualified as a physiotherapist in 2003 and has since worked in a range of clinical areas in both acute hospitals and community settings. She has undertaken her Pilates training with the APPI and is a member of the CSP, HPC and ACPIN.

Clare Houston

Clare joined the team  in June 2019 after working in the Hospitality sector for over 9 years. Clare wanted a career change after having her two little boys. She also looks after all our Social Media. 

Sharon McMichael

Sharon had a Reflexology & Aromatherapy home practise before returning to the workplace after raising her family. She has enjoyed many years of receptionist work before and since then was delighted to join the professional & friendly team at Holywoood Pilates & Physiotherapy in May 2019.
